A preliminary concept for an orphan school (KG–Grade 6) that reimagines the traditional Damascus arch as a horizontal, 3D-printed sculptural wall.
Program
8 classes (6 primary + 2 KG), washrooms, kitchen/cafeteria, playground, admin & reception, clinic. Zones: Front (reception, admin, clinic/counseling, security) · Central (courtyard play area with trees & seating, surrounded by classrooms) · Recreational (outdoor playground, cafeteria) · Service (toilets, maintenance).
Design Concept
The traditional Damascus arch is laid on its side as a horizontal wall element. Using 3D printing, the arches form flowing sculptural partitions that define classrooms, corridors, and gathering spaces — honoring historic craftsmanship while showcasing the freedom of modern fabrication.
